the magnificent dog and the spirit of gompr

Everyone loved GOMPR, he was a unique dog. Gompr was a German Shepard mix with some wolf/husky features. He had very unique color marks and characteristics. Gompr was mostly black in color, his hair was silky soft with some white small areas around his neck and paws, he also had small amounts of brown patches of color throughout some of his body. Gompr was big and strong for his breed and age, he was about 1 year old. Gompr was very friendly and curious. Gompr was very smart and was a fast learner. He would learn how to climb, jump, and play any chance he got, this made him very active and excited. Gompr was a very good dog, he would follow, sit, lay, and listen to most commands. One unique thing about Gompr is that he would eat almost anything that smelled, or tasted good to him, like meat bones, and different kinds of left over’s up until the point of almost vomiting it back up, He would eat so much, that one would think he would not get regularly fed. He must have always got hungry from all the playing around he did, like going to the local dog beach and play with other dogs or run around freely near the ocean water and sandy beaches.

One day Gompr was very excited to play and explore around the house, he would like to jump over the fence from the back yard and get to the front yard where it was more open for him to run around and play. The front yard did not have a fence up so sometimes he would almost end up running too far away from home. On that day where he was playing out front, he got a little too close to the street where cars would drive by and got hit by one of them. The driver of the car parked her car close by and came to our front door to let us know she had accidentally hit Gompr with her car while driving by, she said he came out running all of a sudden and she did not get a chance to stop before hitting him. 

We will never forget that day, we had just checked on Gompr minutes before the accident as he was in the back yard playing, so you can imagine how startled we were. We were in the house when it happened playing video games in the living room, then when we heard the bad news, we immediately ran out to see Gompr and try to help him but while we ran to his rescue, the driver was mentioning that he did not make it. Standing from a distance, we could see his body lying motionless near the road not too far away. We got closer to him only to confirm what was already said. Shortly after, we had a small gathering for Gompr, and a few good words were mentioned about him before we gave him a proper burial. Buried alongside of him was his favorite ball, a rose, and a nice note that said, “he will be missed”.

Gompr will be missed since he was the best dog a family could ever have. Everyone loved him for his character and cool features. He will be missed and the memories he left with us will remain forever in our hearts. We remember when he would sit or lay near us for comfort and security, we remember how protective he was of children, we remember how loyal he was, we remember how he was cautious and anxious about the water hose while getting bathed, yet brave enough to explore and have fun with it. Most of all, we remember GOMPR loved to go for walks around the neighborhood of his home where he would find fun areas to play around, especially a small patch of green grass with a small bench near it, when he played there, he was the most joyful and happy dog. He was Magnificent.
